I am a Tamil and an ardent Murugan(also called Skantha,Kadamba,etc.) devotee. My love for this symbol of Murugan began when I was very young when I saw this symbol in Tiruchendur(one of the 6 pilgrimage centers the article mentions). It is an easy symbol to visualize and meditate upon(as for a complex symbol, search for Sri Yantra)
